This website is operated by Able Removals Pty Ltd (“Able Removals”, “we”, “us”), a family-owned removals and storage company based in Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa. We have been moving households and businesses since 1988.

For the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA), Able Removals Pty Ltd is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website and the enquiry channels described below.

This policy applies to personal information we collect when you:

• browse this website (including pages hosted on our behalf);
• use the quote wizard or volume calculator and submit an enquiry;
• send us a message through the contact form;
• email us (including at info@ableremovers.co.za or quotes@ableremovers.co.za);
• start a WhatsApp conversation with us using the number or buttons on this site.

It does not replace the written terms that apply once a move or storage job is booked. Those documents may include additional operational details (for example insurance cover and warehouse access).

We collect only what we need to respond to you and, if you proceed, to plan a removal or storage job. Depending on how you use the site, that may include:

• Contact details — name, phone number, email address.
• Move details — collection and delivery addresses, preferred dates, property type, access notes (stairs, lifts, parking, long carry), and whether packing help is needed.
• Inventory and volume — rooms, items, and estimated cubic metres from the calculator or quote wizard. This is a description of goods for quoting, not a full insurance schedule unless we later agree one in writing.
• Messages — notes you type in the quote or contact form, and the content of emails or WhatsApp messages you send us.
• Technical data — standard server and hosting logs (for example IP address, browser type, and pages requested) that our hosting provider may process to keep the site running securely.

You choose what to tell us. Incomplete addresses or inventory will usually mean a less accurate estimate, not that we will refuse to speak to you.

This public website does not take card payments or store card numbers.

We do not ask for identity numbers, passport numbers, or copies of ID documents through the quote or contact forms. If you attach those of your own accord (for example in an email), we will treat them as personal information and only use them if they are needed for the job.

Address fields on this site are typed by you. We do not currently use Google Maps address autocomplete on the public website.

We use personal information to:

• prepare and email an estimate or quote PDF, and to discuss it with you by phone, email, or WhatsApp;
• answer general enquiries from the contact form;
• plan a booked move or storage period (access, packing, crew, and timing) once you have confirmed in writing;
• keep the website available, secure, and reasonably fast (hosting and basic analytics).

Under POPIA, we rely mainly on: (a) processing that is necessary to take steps at your request before entering into a contract, and to perform a contract once a job is booked; and (b) our legitimate interests in running a removals business, responding to enquiries, and protecting the website — provided those interests do not override your rights.

We do not sell personal information. We do not use it to send marketing newsletters unless you have asked us to, or another lawful ground clearly applies.

We share personal information only as needed:

• Our staff — family members and employees who handle quotes, operations, and customer service.
• Email delivery — we use Resend to send quote PDFs and contact-form messages to you and to our inboxes (quotes@ableremovers.co.za and info@ableremovers.co.za). Resend processes the content of those emails in order to deliver them.
• Website hosting — the site is hosted on Vercel. Vercel processes technical data required to serve pages and keep the service online.
• WhatsApp / Meta — only if you choose to message us on WhatsApp. That conversation then sits on Meta’s WhatsApp service under Meta’s terms, in addition to this policy.
• Insurers, subcontractors, and storage partners — only after a job is booked, and only to the extent needed to perform or insure that job.

We may also disclose information if the law requires it, or to protect our rights, property, or safety, or that of our customers.

Vercel and Resend may store or process information on servers outside South Africa (including in the United States or the European Union). By submitting an enquiry you understand that your details may leave South Africa for those limited hosting and email-delivery purposes.

We take reasonable steps to work with providers that apply appropriate security and contractual protections. WhatsApp messages are processed according to Meta’s own international arrangements.

The site uses cookies or similar storage that are needed for basic operation (for example keeping a page session working as you move through the quote steps).

We use Vercel Analytics for aggregated page-view statistics so we can see which pages are used. It is not an advertising network and we do not run third-party ad trackers or social-media pixels on this site.

Your browser can block or delete cookies. If you do, some features (including an in-progress quote) may not work as intended.

The quote wizard may save an in-progress draft in your browser’s sessionStorage. That draft stays on your device and is typically cleared when you close the tab or browser. It is not an account on our servers. Submitting the quote is what sends the details to us by email.

We keep information only for as long as we need it for the purpose collected, or as the law requires:

• Website enquiries that do not become a booking — generally up to 24 months, so we can pick up a conversation if you get back in touch, then we delete or anonymise them in the ordinary course.
• Booked moves and storage — for the life of the job and a reasonable period afterwards for queries, claims, and operational records (typically several years).
• Financial and legal records — for the periods required by South African tax and company law, which can be longer than operational files.

Exact dates depend on the type of record. If you want a specific enquiry deleted sooner, ask us using the contact details below; we will do so unless we still need it for a lawful reason.

We use HTTPS on this website and limit access to enquiry inboxes and operational systems to people who need them for their work. No internet transmission or email is completely secure. Please do not send card numbers or copies of identity documents through the public forms unless we have specifically asked you to use a secure channel.

Subject to POPIA and any lawful exceptions, you may request access to the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, object to certain processing, or ask us to delete it where the Act allows.

To exercise those rights, email info@ableremovers.co.za or use the contact page. Please include enough detail for us to find your enquiry (for example the email address you used and an approximate date). We may need to verify that the request comes from you.

Our services are for adults arranging household or business moves. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through this website. If you believe a child has submitted details to us, please contact us and we will delete them.

We may update this page from time to time, for example if we change how quotes are sent or which hosting tools we use. The “Last updated” date at the top will change. Continued use of the website after an update means you should read the new version.
